EDITORIAL FEATURED - HUNGER MAGAZINE WEBSITE

I was pretty excited today to hear my good friend and regular collaborator, photographer Elliott Morgan had work featured on the Hunger Magazine website. My excitement has now skyrocketed that I've found out it's a shoot I did the makeup for!
Here are a couple of pics from the shoot.

MY LATEST SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY

If you're as much of a geek as I am about makeup, lotions and potions then you might want to check out the Blog of my latest discovery Colin.

Colin's Beauty Pages are written by a cosmetic scientist where he 'shares his news and views on beauty products and the science behind them'. Loads of interesting articles to read on there as well as a database of ingredients and a forum for the likes of you and me to ask questions. Believe me, I have loads for him and will let you know what his verdict is! I'm sure I'll be quoting him more in the future!

While we're on the topic of science...

...well, more specifically the environment, I read an interesting article the other day by British Beauty Blogger. Did you know most glitter in Bath Bombs can be harmful to the environment? Like me it probably never occurred to you. Read more on her article here

CHANTECAILLE SAVE THE SHARK PALETTE

You may remember a while ago I posted about Chantecaille's Charity Eyeshadow Palettes - one of my post popular blog posts that still receives regular hits.

Well now Chantecaille's charitable intentions are turning to (que Jaws them song..) Sharks.

Passionately committed to saving our sharks, the BLOOM Association has successfully orchestrated a top-level ban on all Hong Kong Luxury Hotels from serving shark fin soup.
5% of proceeds from the Save the Sharks Palette will be donated to the BLOOM Association to ban unregulated shark fin trade.
If you've ever seen footage of shark finning, I can only liken it to hunting elephants for ivory. The practise of catching sharks en-masse, cutting off their fins and throwing them back in the sea (sometimes still alive) is a cruel and needless waste. Not to mention that these highly unsustainable fishing methods have experts estimating that within a decade most species of shark will be extinct due to longlining. As an apex predator sharks play an important role in the sea's eco-system and the impact on the sea's wildlife would be unthinkable. Read more about BLOOM and their efforts to protect the ocean.

So why not treat you or a friend to a beautiful palette for an extremely important cause? The colours themselves are extremely wearable, all containing a light iridescence that glows rather than glitters and can be worn as a natural day look or to create a sultry, glamorous eye.

The palettes are available:

UK and Worldwide from Space NK for £75

CANDY YUM-YUM RETURNS TO MAC

CULT FAVOURITE RETURNS AS PERMANENT ADDITION

Exciting news for lovers of lipstick. Sell-out success Limited Edition Lipstick Candy Yum-Yum is returning to MAC Stores as a permanent addition according to Blogger-in-the-know British Beauty Blogger.

This opaque matte candy pink delight should be available online in the US within the next 24 hours and hits the rest of the world in Feb... (we think). Some seriously genius reporting from me there! Check in with your local MAC store for some cold hard facts.

I managed to snap up one before it sold out when it first released and have regretted not stockpiling. In fact it's been quite a while since I've seen such a great response to a Limited Edition item from the MAC range and know this decision won't be regretted by the powers that be - nice one!

SOME MAKEUP FAVOURITES FOR UNDER £10

It's just occurred to me how much time I spend 'diving' into my local Boots or Superdrug to get supplies for my kit and it's strange I've never written a post specifically about products stocked in these stores. Here are some of my favourites for under £10.

In a great range of sizes perfect for at home or you kit. You can see exactly what's in there (essential if you have two suitcases full of makeup like me) and know that nothings spilled and everything is neat and in order.

I absolutely love pigments for creating a strong look and at a quarter the price of some other brands you can afford to buy, play and experiment.

I go through lashes like there's no tomorrow - especially for my private clients who adore them. These particular ones in the range "Oh Honey" are soft and fluffy with a slight flick at the outer corners - great for all eye shapes.

From the amazing Pixi Woos girls - I only have one brush from the range and absolutely love it. The setting brush is perfect for powder touch ups and the right size for around the nose, chin and forehead. Must invest in more!

Great for mens grooming or a super natural look on the lashes or brows. A friend recently said she uses it over the top of mascara to separate her lashes more. I literally use it on every single job! Boots also regularly do some great deals which means you can get money off or even free - love it.

I recently borrowed this from a friend and was very reluctant to give it back. Yet another product I have vowed to invest in the whole line (not a bank breaker as there's only three in the range).
